| Can a PastePuck be fitted onto my machine ?
Potentially, any machine can be retro fitted with a PastePuck.
The most common fixtures to date are to MPM, DEK and Ekra
machines.
How long with the fitting take ?
Typically under 60 minutes.
What media can be printed with
a PastePuck ?
The principle use for the PastePuck is the printing of Solder
Pastes. However it should be possible to print any viscous
materials including Adhesives and Peelable resists. Trials
are ongoing.
What cartridges should I order my paste in ?
The PastePuck uses paste supplied in standard DEK/Novatec
Semco cassettes. These simply slide into the top of the Puck.
Will I have to
change my paste ?
No, all mainstream pastes are available in the DEK/Novatec
cassettes. Trials conducted so far have indicated that the
PastePuck is not sensitive to differing media viscosities,
metal content or other properties.
The DEK/Novatec cassete is supplied in one size only.
Does this restrict me to one size of head ?
No! PastePuck is available in 300mm and 380mm sizes, both
of which use the same cassette.
Does the PastePuck use consumable parts,
and are they readily available ?
All consumable and spare parts are available for the PastePuck.
Please browse to the “Technical Info” pages for
further details.
What paste saving
can we expect ?
Independant tests have been conducted on the Pastepuck head.
These concluded that wastage was 0.5%. Since the PastePuck
is an enclosed system and uses the same printing design, effecting
the same stencil/print head seal, we think it likely that
figures will be very similar for the PastePuck.
Does the use of
a PastePuck improve print definition ?
Since the paste is under pressure inside the Puck, paste is
‘injected’ into the apertures in the stencil.
This ensures that no voids remain in the aperture. The design
of the ‘Contour MPG’ avoids scavenging or scooping
of the paste improving definition still further.
Since the PastePuck is pressurised,
does the system increase paste bleed?
Not at all. The Puck rides across the stencil on PTFE shoes.
The print window is in the centre of this. The downward force
either side of the print window ensures the stencil is in
proper contact with the board beneath, both before the print
window arrives at the aperture, and also after it departs..
Does the orientation
of the pads affect the print quality?
No, because the paste is slightly pressurised it is forced
into the apertures, filling them totally no matter what the
shape or orientation.
